Tory Lanez’ Fader Fort Performance [Video]

Drake was not the only Torontonian to perform at SXSW , Tory Lanez also gave a great performance at the Fader Fort with what looks like one of the highlights of the entire SXSW festival. You can now see Lanez’ entire set, which included renditions of his biggest hits as well as a couple of unexpected covers of his favorite R&B jams from yesteryear.

His decision to try out some ’90s material was likely inspired by his biggest song to date, last summer’s “Say It,” which contains a sample of “If You Love Me,” a 1994 hit single by female R&B trio Brownstone, who happened to join Lanez during a January performance of “Say It” on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. Lanez told the crowd his opinion that “the illest and most dope songs come from the ’80s and ’90s,” and he went on to perform two consecutive cover songs: Bell Biv DeVoe’s “Poison” and Ginuwine’s “Pony.”

After the surprise covers, Lanez then dropped “Say It,” which he referred to as “the most important classic of all.” He ended the show with a couple of other potential classics, “The Godfather and Diego.”
